Bristlecone Therapy Mission Statement
At Bristlecone Therapy we desire to care for the whole person—body, mind and soul—by creating spaces where individuals, couples and families find new pathways to health and healing.
We are relationship-focused.
"Through others we become ourselves." - Lev Vygotsky
Humans are wired for relationship. We cannot know ourselves apart from our relationships. We thrive in community and suffer in isolation. It is through relationships that we experience our deepest pain and greatest healing. We are not able to experience wholeness when our most important relationships are broken.
We are body-informed.
"The body speaks clearly to those who know how to listen." - Pat Ogden
Our bodies are very good. We cannot be separated from our bodies. In our bodies we experience both pleasure and pain. Sometimes our bodies hold memories that we are not consciously aware of, and when this happens we need help to release these memories from where they have gotten stuck inside us.
We are spiritually-sensitive.
"If you don't find God in the next person you meet, it is a waste of time looking for him further." - Mahatma Gandhi
Spirituality is an inherent part of what it means to be human. To deny this part of ourselves is to deny an essential aspect of our humanity. We yearn for communion with the divine. We seek to make meaning of our experiences in and through our spiritual beliefs and practices.

Jake is a psychological sherpa who has led so many expeditions up the deadly peaks of human trauma. You know you are in the safest hands possible because he knows where the dangers are, pauses for those on the journey who are losing steam, weeps with those he's guiding when a vista of grief comes into view, and smiles with humble satisfaction over the progress his travelers make no matter how far they are able to go.
Brielle has consistently offered a listening ear, patience, and a space for me to explore my emotions. On many occasions she has offered a different perspective and helped me see aspects of myself in a new way. Therapy is never easy but with the support I have received at Bristlecone I know I am on my way to a healthier future.
In couples therapy with Brielle we instantly felt comfortable. With patience and understanding she helped us in finding words and ears for our deepest emotions. We have come to groundbreaking realizations in working with her. She has started us off on a path that we definitely want to follow.
I have so appreciated Jake’s help diving into how my physical symptoms were related to unhealthy patterns of thought. I came in with acid reflux, and through his direction we followed the roots right down to fear and several other deeper troubles which needed healing. He has been a patient listener and a steady, encouraging partner in my path to health!
Dr. Johnson is the only male authority figure I have felt free to approach without feeling ashamed or embarrassed for not knowing something. I was hoping to have a different supervisory experience—and with Dr. Johnson I truly had the experience I was looking for!
We worked with Brielle at a time of our lives that was filled with loss, and hard feelings that rose from that. She made us feel heard and helped us listen to each other better. She offered tools and concepts that we could readily use on our own. But most of all her warm and compassionate personality helped us feel at ease in therapy and brought out the best in us.
